Taking the whole thing
Bought for one reason that has nothing to do with opulence: it is the only way to remove other guests entirely.
The three forms

When it is worth it
- A party of six or more travelling together, where the per-person maths often lands close to four separate suites anyway
- Three generations, where a house solves bedtimes, mealtimes and pacing in a way a camp cannot
- A milestone trip where the group being alone together is the point
- Anyone who genuinely does not want to make conversation at dinner for eight nights
The honest case against it
For two people, exclusive use rarely repays itself, and we would rather say so.
A good small camp has six to ten tents. You will meet perhaps eight other guests, most of whom will be interesting, and you will have your own vehicle and your own guide regardless. What exclusive use removes is other people at dinner — and for a couple, other people at dinner are often the best part of the evening.
What we would suggest instead, for two
A private vehicle and a private guide at a small owner-run camp. You get the solitude where it matters — in the field, all day — and company only when you want it, over one meal.
It costs a fraction of a buyout and for most couples it is the better trip.
What to check before you commit
- Minimum nights. Most exclusive-use properties have one, often three or four.
- What "own vehicle" means. One vehicle for six people is not the same as two for six.
- Whether the guide is included or priced on top. It is frequently on top.
- Seasonal minimums. Peak dates often carry a higher minimum party size or a higher floor rate.
- Who else can be on the land. Exclusive use of a camp is not always exclusive use of the concession.
